Museum is the first place that should visited by every tourist when they arrive in this country. Inside the museum, we can see many things, especially the background of this city. This place is quite strategic because it is here in the tourist Brussels city center.
For go to Brussels square, you must walk about one kilometer from bus parking area. With the breath that puffed air temperature because the cold, you will arrived in the town square in Brussels approximately 15 minutes. Stand in this place with ancient magnificent buildings with architecture in 17-18 century, such as Brussels Tapestries, Maison du Roi, and de Ville Hotel. On the right side appear the Brussels City Museum was built in 19th century.

Before see content of museum, it’s not good if not explain the history behind the development of this Brussels City Museum. Brussels City Museum is located in  building that has two names, that is, the king’s house and the house bread (Broodhuis).

Dualism of this name seems  this building reflects the realities of social and political ambition that developed in the middle of Brussels in the past. In the 16-century building was used as government of King Charles V. However, in the 19th century, eventually building are renovate total  and re-built in Gothic style.

It is the Mayor of Brussels Karel Buls which is the brain behind the existence of Brussels Museum. Precisely in 1884, Buls, decided to build a museum that can provide information to citizens about the history of the city where they live. Three years later, the museum is officially opened to the public. Initially, the museum collection is only displayed on the second floor building.

Each floor of the museum collection store are different. One on the floor, tourists can find various collections of art and decoration typical Brussels, such as wall tapestries, paintings, handicrafts typical Brussels faience, and goldsmith work. Meanwhile, on the second floor, we can see the various documents and miniature of Brussels.

Arrie on third floor, the collection also displayed more diverse. On this floor tourist can find  collection that shows the development of cultural, economic, and social Brussels City. Collections are displayed in the form of documents, paintings, and manuscripts. Museum opened on Tuesday up to Friday, 10:00 am to 17:00. To be adult tickets at 3 euros, while for children of 1.50 euros. Visiting Brussels City Museum, it’s like to tread in the capital of the European Union.
