Find Romantic Town with Pink Castle In Heidelberg, Germany

Where you select destination when you visit to Germany? Berlin? Munich? Hmmm…. I recommend to pause your desire first to go there. Change your direction by taking the plane to Frankfurt to go to Heidelberg. With your willingness to spend the trip for one hour, and you will be met with the super-romantic scenery in this developed technology country. Heidelberg is a reasonable degree, with a location in the Neckar river bank and has pink palace as “accessory” it. This old city with Medieval style is perhaps the beginning of Mark Twain travel in Europe, which was then in a book entitled A tramp Abroad. Heidelberg is mix between classic and modern.

When you visit to Heidelberg, You must visit to Heidelberg Castle which is located on the top of the hill is almost 100 meters above the Old Town. This pink castle was built in 13th century with gothic-style architecture and the Renaissance. Around this palace there is a beautiful park called Great VAT (Grosses Fass). Perhaps, Goethe, German poet famous, frequently visited the park in 1814-1815, so his statue also made in the middle of the garden. Come to this garden at night, when the Old Town and Castle highlighted lights, it will look so very romantic! In the garden there is largest wine barrel in the world (measuring 8.2 meters long and 7.3 meters high, with 209,503 liters), which built in 1751, and Pharmacy museums. If you have extra energy, Take the funicular up to Kornmarkt’s castle, and climb to the top of a steep hill Königstuhl. From there you can view spectacular of Heidelberg town. During sunny weather, you can see up to Mannheim and Karlsruhe city.

The Old Town and the Old Bridge is the most romantic place with small streets, especially Hauptstrasse that referred as the most beautiful street in Europe. Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) originally made from wood, and was renovated by Prince Elector Karl Theodor in 1786-1788.This bridge is part of the city wall. You can also visit to the Old University, The oldest university that has Baroque style and was built in 1712. Or you can see water fountain in front of Lion Fountain is  popular place to hang-out. Behind this place,there is  a prison when in 1778 - 1914 use as a prison for the University students who make mistakes. From the river you can see the Philosophenweg (Philosopher Walk). Perhaps, the author and poems author often get inspiration in this beautiful place, because from there they can see the Heidelberg Castle and Old Town from far distance, that look so romantic with it’s pink castle.

How go There? Well, for you who want go to there, here is the way. From Frankfurt only 80 km to the south. Take the car for about 1 hour from Frankfurt airport, or take the train to Mannheim and replace the local train ride for 15 minutes to Heidelberg. So easy, isn’t it?
